A couple of poems
Fire
Hot winds fanning the flames
Pushing the fire onward
Burning all in its path
Reducing everything to ash.
Animals great and small
Racing toward the edge of the forest
Trying to outrun the carnage
Fear of fire greater than fear of foe.
Thunder on the horizon
Rain marching in
Enemy of fire
Brings salvation to the forest.
——————–
Rain
Gentle drumming on the wind pane
Causing runnels down the glass
Grey skies overhead
Spanning across the horizon.
Rain dances in the puddles
Splatters reaching upward
Filling birdbaths to the brim
Overflowing in the ditches.
Rain soaking the ground
Plants drinking up the moisture
Roots swelling up filled with water
Giving life to all.
I enjoy your contrast from Fire to Rain. Your poetry is wonderful and I especially enjoy your lines ‘Thunder on the horizon’ and ‘Rain dances in the puddles’. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Gina
Thank you, Gina.
Fire and water – complimentary and yet, competitive.
Love both verses, Susan.
All good wishes for the week ahead,
Eric
Thank you, I’m trying to branch out and grow as a writer. I love poetry and need to write it more often.
Beautiful – both of them. Enjoyed the second the most:)
Thank you. Coming from you that means a lot to me. Your poetry is so lovely.
I love rain, and your imagery was so vivid, I loved it.
Thank you, I love rain and thunder storms too.
